Abstract

In the landscape of the Jewish poets who wrote in Castile in the second half of the 13thcentury, we find two very unique poets. The first is Isaac Shlomo Ibn Sahula, born in 1244, and the second, Todros ben Yehudah ha-Levi Abulafia, born in 1247. Both had similar ages and belong to the same generation. The first was an expert in Kabbalah focused on morals and the second was a poet who wrote mainly secular poetry. The aim of this article is to offer a parallel reading of their Works in order to realize that the work of Todros can serve as a key to interpret the morals of Ibn Sahula.
